Nutritional Tips
Pork is a good source of protein but also some part of the meat (e.g. belly or shoulder) is made of a large amount of fat. It is generally rich in vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12, also a good source of phosphorus, zinc, and potassium.
For example, vitamin B6 is involved in protein and carbohydrate metabolism. It is also involved in red blood cell formation. Therefore, for a healthy balanced diet, there is no need to exclude pork from your diet. However, it is important to think about the amount of consumption and the proportion of the meat (lean, shoulder, belly).
It is important to cook long enough as undercooked or raw pork may contain parasites such as toxoplasma, and taenia solium. Having said that, overcooked meat may contain carcinogenic substances. Therefore, it is important to cook well enough but not too much.
