Nutritional Tips
Rye bread is a good source of fibre and contains a small amount of fat. Compared to some breads such as white bread, rye bread has a lower glycemic index, which means it causes a slower increase in blood sugar than white bread after being eaten. Finnish rye bread is very special and I personally like the Reissumies Finnish Rye bread, which is darker in colour, round and a bit sour.
This dish is simple to prepare and delicious. It is perfect for serving at a party or as a light snack at home. Having a few pieces is fine. However, due to the fat and salt content from the cheese and ham, if you eat all 8 pieces, you may consume nearly ⅓ of the daily recommended salt intake (2g out of 8g) and almost 40% of saturated fat intake. Enjoy your meal but pay attention to your consumption.
